An ode to interior design!!! Emily Henderson (Design Star winner) is channeling a family aesthetic here!!! My mother has been a long time collector of silhouettes, old framed paintings, and objects that tell stories. She has always had a knack for creating little still life nooks around our house which has always made it cozy, interesting, and quirky. After being surrounded by this design philosophy my whole life, I have adopted and embraced it, with a twist of my own style, of course. We just like things around us...chachkis....collections of little colorful trinkets and baubles from around the world.... from different times in history...things that have been passed down and loved by family members. Collections are ongoing, and new ones are always developing. Flea markets are our kryptonite and our demise. Lets just put it this way....minimalism is not in our personal style vocabulary, although I do have an appreciation for it. We love, stuff. Some people would call it clutter, I call it artistic! Or I should say...it becomes artistic when arranged in a certain way. Just look at the way Emily has 'styled' this dresser. It's a hodgepodge of special little objects, that when put together, tell a story and give off a vibe of nostalgia and romance. It's asymmetry flows in a natural and easy way, and the yellow pop of color in the flowers makes the whole layout really come together. I love every bit of it!
